Emergency tarping, damage documented properly for your insurer, and permanent repairs — from a company that is already here when the roads reopen.
Hurricane Sally made landfall here on September 16, 2020 as a Category 2. Southern Baldwin County took sustained hurricane-force winds of 75 to 85 mph, gusts over 100, and a 123 mph gust was recorded at the Perdido Pass Bridge. Roofs and siding came off across Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, and the National Centers for Environmental Information put the storm’s total damage around $7.3 billion. Ivan did comparable work in 2004.
Roofs in this city are not replaced on a maintenance schedule. They are replaced on storm cycles. Which means storm response is not a sideline for a Gulf Shores roofer — it is the main event, and how a company behaves in the two weeks after a named storm tells you most of what you need to know about it.
Emergency tarping on anything actively letting water in. This is the first call we make after a storm and it is the cheapest money you will spend, because interior damage escalates fast.
Photographs, measurements, slope-by-slope notes and a written scope. Done before any repair, because once it is fixed it cannot be documented.
We give you a report your adjuster can work from, and we will meet them on the roof when that helps. We are not public adjusters and we do not negotiate your claim — but an accurate, thorough scope is usually what decides whether a wind claim is paid properly.
Once the scope is settled, we do the actual work — to Baldwin County’s 130 mph standard, with the option to go FORTIFIED while the roof is open.
This is the part that costs Gulf Shores homeowners the most money, because it is the part that gets missed. After high wind, the common failure is not a missing shingle — it is a lifted shingle. Wind breaks the adhesive seal strip, the shingle lays back down, and the roof looks completely normal from the ground. The seal never re-forms. Six weeks later an ordinary rain gets under it.
By then the storm is out of the news, the claim window may be closing, and the leak looks like ordinary wear rather than storm damage. The homeowner pays for it themselves.
That is the entire argument for getting a free post-storm inspection even when your roof looks fine. It costs nothing and it is the difference between a covered claim and an uncovered repair.
After any named storm, get the roof looked at — even if it looks untouched. Lifted-but-not-missing shingles are the most common and most expensive storm damage on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Free inspection: (251) 313-4853.
After every hurricane, out-of-state crews arrive in Baldwin County, knock doors, offer to "waive your deductible" and take deposits. Some do acceptable work. Many do not, and none of them are here in three years when the workmanship fails or a warranty claim needs honouring.
A few things worth checking on anyone who knocks: where their office is, whether the quote states the shingle wind rating and nailing pattern, and whether they are asking for money before any work is done. Waiving a deductible is also not a favour — it is insurance fraud, and it is the homeowner’s name on the claim.
We are at 1404 W 1st St Unit B in Gulf Shores and we will be here after the next one.
The clearest signal, and it means the surrounding field is unsealed even where nothing is missing.
Shingles that look flat but lift by hand have lost their seal. This is the damage that gets missed.
Check vents, flashing and gutters. Impact marks there suggest hail, which strengthens a claim considerably.
Wind-borne debris punctures decking and cracks shingles. Common near the beach and on exposed lots.
The ridge is the highest-uplift part of the roof and usually the first to go.
Even a small one. It means the water path opened during the event, which matters for the claim.
When a storm comes through, the companies that matter are the ones already inside the area. We are not waiting for roads to reopen from three states away and we are not booking work we cannot get to for six weeks. We also know what Baldwin County adjusters expect to see in a scope, because we deal with them every season.
Our office is at 1404 W 1st St Unit B, Gulf Shores, AL 36542. We are not dispatching a crew from another state after a storm and we are not guessing at what Baldwin County requires — Gulf Shores is where we work every week. Call (251) 313-4853 and you will be talking to somebody who knows the difference between a West Beach roof and one north of the Intracoastal.
A lot of storm & hurricane damage jobs touch Roof Repair, Free Roof Inspection, Roof Replacement and FORTIFIED Roofs as well — we handle all of it, so there is one company on the property and one warranty at the end. You can see everything on the services page, and we work throughout Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and the rest of south Baldwin County.
Free post-storm inspection, emergency tarping, and a written scope your adjuster can actually use.
